This year, the thing that I was most looking forward to was the whale research trip on Balaena. After coming back, I knew I was expecting to feel slightly low, as I was coming home to a huge amount of uni work, exams and assessments and a very dwindling pile of cash and no free time. I know that everyone has times like these when you just feel very overwhelmed. There are a couple of things that help me.
One is having goals and looking ahead. As far as studying, next year I am hoping to transfer universities and probably change courses as well. Another thing is (I know this is cliched) but being grateful for what you have and appreciating the little things. Something small, which is very important for me and makes me happy is being able to take Rosie for a walk everyday. The third thing is yoga. I started practising yoga and stretching daily around 2 years ago. I have a shoulder injury which gets chronic very quickly if I don’t work on stretching and strengthening it daily. Yoga also helps sooth a hectic mind an create a mind body connection. I have decided to do my 200 hour yoga teacher training in the next year (as soon as I can afford it) and become a yoga teacher. This is something I have thought a lot about and wanted to do for a long time, so I’m very excited and very much looking forward to it. If anyone could recommend any 200 hour courses in the UK then please let me know (at the moment, I’m hoping to do it with YMCA Bristol).
Hope you have a great week.
