‘We have salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears. We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea — whether it is to sail or to watch it — we are going back from whence we came.’ John. F Kennedy
I first came across that quote when I was 18, living and London, plotting and planning my escape back to the coast, and am pretty sure it’s haunted me ever since. 9 months living in London is the longest I have gone without living in a coastal community, I have to say, I didn’t quite know what to do with myself.
And now I sit here, writing this, and I have to say, it’s giving me chills, as (you many have guessed by the title), I am privileged to be announcing my first yoga retreat.
Since qualifying as a yoga teacher in 2016, I have been offered to teach numerous surf & yoga style retreats, all abroad and actually mostly in South/Central America. I don’t know what it was, but none of them felt right to me. I guess something about having a little following on social media makes people see $$ and approach you, however, I knew I needed to do something that felt authentic to me, so I waited.
The fact that I will get to host my first retreat in Pembrokeshire means the world to me. While Pembrokeshire probably won’t really be home again for a while, with big adventures on the horizon, it is where the heart is for me, where I was born and raised. This landscape, with its wild, rugged, at times serene, at others unforgiving has definitely had a huge role in shaping the person I am.
I have teamed up with Dragon Activity Guides to provide Back to the Sea: A Yoga and Surf Retreat. The retreat will be run over a weekend, and include ‘Own Your Space’, a new workshop I am teaching, about self confidence not only in your practice and body, but in all aspects of your life, daily surf lessons, morning sea swims, vinyasa style classes as well as a more restorative/meditative evening practice, and walks on the Pembrokeshire coast path, right on our doorstep.
Weather permitting, I will teach outside, our venue backing right on to the coast path, to give a real immersion into nature.
Never surfed before? No problem. Never done yoga before? No problem. To come on this retreat, you just need to be a good person looking for a bloody awesome weekend of yoga, surf, sea swimming and building a community of likeminded beautiful people.
All food and accommodation is included. Food will be pescatarian, but if you have any dietary requirements, please let us know. The accommodation is bunkhouse style, situated a couple hundred meters back from the coast path above Caerfai, with views over St Brides Bay, out to Skomer and Grassholm Island. St Davids is just a short walk away.
Alcohol wont be provided, but if you want to bring a beer or two, that’s cool with me. We’ve kept this retreat pretty small, to make sure everyone gets the most out of the experience, so if you are interested, please do get in touch. The price of the retreat is £250, payable in 3 installments.
To book, please get in touch with Dragon Activity Guides, either at email@example.com or on 0143772077.
Looking forward to meeting you,
