On the 18th of June, after 3 and a half hours sleep, we were woken up to the news that we were arriving in Norway. I cant say that I was thrilled with the 3am wake up, however, after I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and had a good look around, I realised that we were sailing through some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen, it looked like it was straight out of Moomin land.
After scarfing down some lasagne left over from the night before, I was in a bit more of an appreciative mood. We sailed past the most tiny islands topped with lighthouses, to the scent of pine the pine forests wafting temptingly from the mainland. The water here was over 200m deep, even so close to shore, giving the whole experience a surreal feeling.
On arrival in Arendal, it seemed everyone grabbed a beer and headed back to bed but we hopped ashore and started exploring. This was are first time in Norway and I think we both fell in love straight away. It seemed like everything in Arendal was beautifully functional, clean and well cared for.
After an explore, I headed back aboard to complete and submit my university assessment, then went for a run, did some yoga, ate a burger, drank a beer and went to bed. All in all, a day well spent.
